We took a couple of weeks off selling stuff and did the Coast to Coast walk from St Bees in Cumbria, to Robin Hood Bay in North Yorkshire. It was amazing, I do a bit of ski touring and felt quite at home climbing through snow fields in the Lakes. Our navigation skills were tested in fog above 600 metres. Pip discovered her waterproofs weren’t after one morning of heavy rain, the becks were all in torrent so we had to turn back anyway and ended up walking to Ambleside to buy some waterproofs that worked. Pip ended up buying some Rab gear in Event having lost any faith in Goretex.
We did it the comfortable way staying in B&Bs and using Sherpa Van to transport our stuff. A final bit of luxury before the austerity of a small tent. It was super quiet, meeting only a few other walkers. May June and September seem to be the busy times.
